Is this a joke? Is this supposed to be funny?
No, it isn't.

Is this a heresy? Is this supposed to be a satire of religion?
No, it isn't

Psalms 62:8 tells us:
  Trust in him at all times, O people;
  pour out your hearts to him,
  for God is our refuge.

In the eyes of God, pouring out our hearts is pouring out our hearts, whether at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, in the confessional in Catholic Churchs, at the feet of a popular evangelist, or in an typewritten note on the Internet. God looks at the intent of the heart, not the age or "respectability" of the medium.

Is this e-mail actually sent to God? Certainly ... in a manner of speaking. No matter how you look at it, you can be absolutely certain that He will read it! So what difference does it make whether it is really sent or not? The result is the same: you get to tell God about the things that are on your mind and He gets a chance enjoy a communication from you.

A lot of people are getting some serious business done with God this way. You see, most people today don't really know how to pray. There is a tendency toward being very formal and correct ... and that doesn't work very well for most of us. But we certainly don't have that kind of problem when it comes to composing e-mails for friends, family, and strangers on the Internet! Quite the contrary.  We can pour out our hearts about our problems and opinions, and we can make demands and give help to others. That's exactly how God wants us to talk to Him.

When you have written your e-mail to God and click the Send button, He will have already read your message. The e-mail actually dissolves into nothingness, and thereafter exists only in your memory and forever in the heart and mind of God.

It all makes sense in a strange sort of way. And it just goes to show that the supernatural isn't necessarily unnatural.
